The hotel room and library facility is beautiful and nicely designed, great for instagram photos. Small quirks that my family enjoyed were the teapot set on the bed which highlights the aesthetic appeal of the bedroom, automated curtains, the complimentary drink vouchers, and the king size bed is very comfortable. We love the room with the mountain view hopefully we can request it again for our next visit.
Something that we should have contacted the desk about was the flashing light from the fire alarm in our bedroom, not sure if the problem could have been addressed. The room service light by the door is rather bright as well in the pitch black.
Another critique is that the hotel does not come with a pool despite a pool picture on the search site. The pool/gym/bar is not located within the hotel itself and located 2min walk to their other hotel chain. The pool picture can be misleading as pool access is $25 per person at the time of writing.
As mentioned previously in the comment section, there is no direct lift access from the hotel lobby to the basement carpark.
If feasible, it will be great if the hotel comes with EV charging
Other than a few drawback, the Little National Hotel is a great weekend stay for our family. The hotel is well suited for couples and business travellers.
The Little National Hotel tries to market itself as an affordable luxurious hotel, and I can see why... however, it has a few drawbacks. In saying that, the hotel is still rather nice. The bed and the pillows are the best I have experienced from a hotel in Canberra. The small lounge/library area is a nice feature as a common area for guests to hang out or do work. The room layout also feels very spacious for such a small room with the use of mirrors and thoughtful planning.
Now, the drawbacks of the hotel:
Firstly, the elevator from the hotel carport doesn't serve as guest access to their hotel floor. Rather, you have to go outside and in through the main entrance to access the correct elevator.
Secondly, the TV in the room didn't offer any streaming services at the time. I asked reception about this, and they said it's because they are currently in the process of changing the operating system. To me, it's a bit of a letdown when one of the main features of the room is having the TV right at the end of the bed.
Thirdly, I requested a late checkout, which was approved by the hotel. However, my access card was deactivated before my aporoved leave time without me being notified. So when I loaded my car, when I went back to get my last bag, I couldn't enter my room.
Would I stay here again? Possibly, but it won't be my first option when visiting Canberra.
I loved my stay at the Little National Hotel. Friendly service. Small, tidy new rooms. Very comfy bed. Nice library area with complimentary fruit and drinks. Close to everything. Perfect place for solo travellers.
Awesome hotel. Nice new rooms. Comfy beds (huge super king!) Coffee machine in your room. Complimentary coffee in the study area, and a bar that runs on an honesty system with a large selection of alcohol (open from 12pm to 10pm). Staff were friendly and welcoming (Thanks Georgia) Highly recommend this hotel.
Such a great option for the single overnight traveller. The rooms are small, but have everything you need. I read lots of reviews that the bed was super comfortable, but I found it so soft it felt like i was sinking into a marshmallow all night. If I was with my partner we would have been in a soft case of emotion. My other little niggle is whilst the blockout blinds are amazing, the light panel by the door is so bright it feels like dawn all night.
Unique concept and great value (compared to others). Room was clean. It was only a night stay for one person, or otherwise the room may feel a bit cramped or an extended stay. Would come back again.
First thing do you take cash no, but they do felt like a leper. If your claustrophobic room not good very very small... if you old or have mobility problems and you have partner not easy to get out of bed.. Bloody pigeons outside window …
The rooms are ok, very small and you can not walk around the bed(curious how the maids change the sheets quickly). …
